Where All-Stars come from
Every province and state lit on this map has sent a player to the Challenge. They are counted from the registrations, not estimated. Point at one on the map, or pick it from the list, to see how many!
10 provinces and territories · 41 states · 1,642 towns and cities · 7,306 All-Stars since 2022
Counted from registered All-Stars across every edition, both weekends together.
Why nominate
Nomination takes two minutes, costs nothing, and siblings can go in together. What it opens is one event with five things in it a player does not get anywhere else.

During the first game day we have our ring ceremonies where every player gets their names announced and receive own All-Star ring.

Every player gets their own professional All-Star media shoot in full gear.

Every player is issued a full All-Star jersey set for the country they represent, and keeps it.

The winning team takes home trophies and hats for every player on the roster. Post-game interviews with the championship team are highlighted on social media.

Pre and post-game interviews, recovery stations between games, the Hall of Fame wall, these are the parts of the weekend that make it feel like a celebration rather than a regular tournament.

How it works
Nominations are read in the order they arrive, and spots in each birth year are capped. Everyone gets an answer.
Two minutes, no account, no fee. A parent or guardian submits, because it concerns a child.
Every nomination is read against the birth year, the division and the level the player is at now.
Selected players get an invitation with registration details for their country. Everyone gets an answer.
The Challenge runs on two weekends, a week apart, at the same rink with the same format, jersey and ring. The weekend follows from the level — nothing else changes.

Coaches
Head coaches at the All-Star Challenge pick their own squad, so who stands behind the bench decides a great deal. There are two ways in: one for the person who knows a coach, and one for the coach.
For a parent, a player or a club official. Name the coach who should be behind an All-Star bench and say why in a line or two. More than one family naming the same coach is a signal, not a duplicate — so put the name in even if you assume someone already has.
For the coach themselves. Tell us who you are, where you have coached and which weekend you can make: AAA, AA or both. You do not need to have coached for us before, and you do not need to know anybody here.
Both forms take a couple of minutes and neither asks for an account. A person reads every one.

Questions
If something here is not answered, ask before you submit! We would rather answer twice than have a nomination sit unfinished.
Any youth player whose parent or guardian believes they belong on the ice with the best of their birth year. Squads are built on a January 1 – December 31 birth-year basis, the same way Hockey Canada and USA Hockey run age divisions, so we ask for a date of birth to place a player in the right group.
A parent or guardian must submit the nomination, because it concerns a child and we need their consent on the record. Coaches who want to put a player forward should ask that player’s family to submit, and can be named on the form as the head coach.
No. Nomination is free and carries no obligation. If a player is selected you receive an invitation with the registration details and cost for your country, and you decide from there.
The All-Star Challenge runs on two weekends at Scotiabank Pond, Toronto, Ontario: the AAA weekend July 1–4, 2027, and the AA weekend July 8–11, 2027. Dates and venue on this page are read directly from the event record, so what you see here is what the registration desk sees.
The AAA weekend if that is the level your player plays at this season, and the AA weekend otherwise. The form asks which one, and you can change your choice there. Every nomination is reviewed against the level a player actually plays, and a player is placed where they belong.
Nominations are reviewed against the birth year and division they would play in, the level they currently play, and what the nominating family and coach tell us. Spots per birth year are capped, so a strong nomination that arrives early is worth more than a strong nomination that arrives late.
Every nomination gets an answer. Selected players receive an emailed invitation with a registration link specific to their country; players we cannot place are told so rather than left waiting.
Yes, and it is common. Submit one nomination per player, using the same parent details — siblings are reviewed independently because they play in different birth years.
A player who has been selected in more than one edition. Returning All-Stars are recognised at two, three, four and five appearances, with a milestone presentation at the ring ceremony. Previous selection never guarantees a spot — every edition is selected fresh.
We use it to review the nomination and, if selected, to invite and place the player. Date of birth is used for age-division placement only and is never published. Full detail, including how to opt out or have the record deleted, is on the privacy page.
No. One All-Star Challenge on two weekends. AAA plays the first weekend and AA the week after, at the same rink with the same format, jersey and ring. Nominate for the level your player plays at now; the weekend follows from that.
Yes. 2027 is the first edition to welcome players from Europe and Asia, and the nomination form is the same for everyone.
Yes. Every player is issued a full jersey set: jersey, socks and shell for the country they are drafted to, and it goes home with them.
